Two Dads on a Sideline, and a Better Way to Do Home Projects
Prodigy Home Pros started with two people complaining about the same industry from opposite ends of it.
Jeremy Curington was a finance major working an analytics job in corporate finance. David Robbins was managing for a building supply company. Their kids played on the same soccer team, and at the party after a big win, the two of them ended up talking shop instead of soccer.
They kept landing on the same thing: how much gets left on the table in home construction. David saw it from the supply side, where decisions get made out of habit and material gets picked because that is what got picked last time. Jeremy saw a numbers problem, in an industry where almost nobody measures its own process and then wonders why no two projects run the same way.
There had to be a better way to do this. The way a prodigy would.
Why the name stuck
A prodigy is not someone who works harder at the old method. It is someone who gets a different result because they come at the thing differently. That is the whole idea behind the company: bring technology and analytics to a trade that mostly runs on habit, use them to design and build a better project, and take out the frustrations homeowners have come to expect from contractors.
What that looks like on your house
The analytics are not a marketing line. They change what shows up in your driveway.
Windows get measured by the installer. Every opening is measured by the person who will install it, so custom-sized windows can be bought at off-the-shelf pricing instead of packaged and sold to you as an upgrade.
Roofs get assessed before they get quoted. Ventilation, structural damage, code deficiencies, storm damage. You get the roof the house needs, not a copy of the roof it had.
Gutters get sized to your roof, not to the old gutters. Pitch, roof area and local rainfall set the size, calculated for your address.
The number we quote is the number. No buy-two-get-one math, no price that expires tonight.
The site gets cleaned like someone lives there. On most roofs, teardown, haul-off and a magnet sweep for nails all happen the same day as the install.
From Roof Prodigy to Prodigy Home Pros
We started in roofing, as Roof Prodigy. Customers kept asking whether we handled the siding, the windows and the gutters too, and the name changed to match the work. Today we cover roofing, siding, windows, doors and gutters across the Cincinnati and Dayton markets.
On the roofing side we are GAF Master Elite certified, a status held by roughly two percent of roofing contractors in the country, and the reason we can write GAF's strongest material and workmanship warranties on qualifying roofs.
The part we watch closest
The company has grown fast. What we are proudest of is what did not change on the way: hundreds of five-star reviews, saying much the same things. Somebody answered the phone. The quote did not move. Nobody tried to sell a second thing. The yard was clean. And more often than you would expect, the review names the crew member who did the work, which is the part no company can manufacture.
Still the same question
Every project still comes back to what Jeremy and David were asking each other at that soccer party: is there a better way to do this than the way it has always been done? Usually there is. Tell us what your home needs, and we will show you what we would do differently.
